  • GMSA improved manufacturing efficiencies by 25% YTD saving nearly R1,000 per vehicle produced – a total savings of nearly R4.5 million in October
  • 13 Synovate 2008 Quality Awards including a second consecutive GOLD award for the Opel Corsa Utility; GOLD award for the Isuzu Petrol Single Cab; and the Best Local Plant Manufacturing LCV award
  • The 2008 JD Power Quality survey also awarded the Opel Corsa Utility the highest ranking in the compact pickup segment for the 4th consecutive year; the Isuzu KB was ranked third in the pickup truck nameplate segment; and the Chevrolet Spark secured the second spot in the lower compact car segment

  • Delivery Reliability up to 95.68% YTD (Sept) in 2009 from 74% in 2007
  • IPTV (incidents per 1000 vehicles) down to 7.2 YTD (Sept) in 2009 from 15.7 in 2007
  • SUP processing time to Stock down to ave less than 2 days from 21 days in 07
  • R1 million annual saving by washing SUP's at VCDC and not at the PE port.
  • Damaged Vehicle Repair time reduced to less than 5 days since the internal paint facility was commissioned from 31 days in 2007
After Sales
The biggest win has been in the Retailer Satisfaction Survey for Vehicle delivery which improved to 72% in the latest Dealer survey from 54% in 2008.
The result has moved from one that requires urgent and immediate attention to a strength for GMSA and our Dealer network.

Won the Dubai International Award for Best Practices as awarded by the Dubai Municipality and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme

2009 Synovate Awards

GM South Africa has received 13 Synovate awards, in recognition of the great quality vehicles
The company competes in 9 of the 17 segments which are measured by Synovate and GMSA’s results were as follows:
Entry level: Corsa Lite came in 3rd position
Small Hatch: Corsa (excluding Lite) remained in 1st position
Chevrolet Aveo moved from 2nd to joint 1st place
Small Sedan: Chevrolet Aveo Sedan remained in 2nd position


LCV awards

  • Corsa Utility retained 1st position in the half ton segment
  • Isuzu KB retained 1st position in the Petrol Single Cab segment
  • Isuzu KB tied with Toyota Hilux in 1st position in the Diesel Double Cab segment
