Graduate-In-Training Programme

WHAT IS THE GIT PROGRAMME

The programme was initiated in 1987 and is designed to meet specific organisational requirements and to provide graduates with valuable work experience.

It represents an investment in sustaining quality in the company’s human resources, thereby ensuring that in the long term, the company will remain competitive.

The training phase of the programme starts in February each year and runs through to December.

HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKS

A GIT is placed in a department where the functions are related to the academic qualification of the graduate. Before being permanently placed in a division, GIT’s receive structured on-the-job training through following a carefully planned rotational training schedule.

This kind of training exposes GIT’s to all activities undertaken by a respective department. Hands-on experience is gained through this programme and theoretical knowledge is put into practice. In addition, GIT’s also have the opportunity to take training courses to improve skills such as presentation skills, report writing, computer courses, etc.

Regular performance appraisals are conducted over the duration of the training period to monitor an individual’s progress and to identify his/her strengths and interests.
